For over 40 years, Canyon Creek Cabinet Company has been a leader in premium, semi-custom cabinetry design and manufacturing. Located just outside of Seattle in Monroe, Washington, Canyon Creek has built a reputation throughout the West Coast on their expertise in an incredible range of KCMA-certified cabinet options.
The Challenge
Canyon Creek is known for offering over 30 colors, most custom-matched to their customer's needs. Changing colors on 25-year-old manual spray technology created a lot of downtime, resulting in a bottleneck in production. Meanwhile, finding skilled labor fit for the spraying jobs became a challenge. To tackle these issues, they started looking into automated solutions.
The Cefla Finishing Solution
Cefla designed and engineered a new solution on our Easy spray machine for Canyon Creek to have quick color changes at the spray booth. Cefla's FCS, Fast Color Switch, was developed for a zero-time lost production where the color change happens while the conveyors never stop in between charges. This ensures that the finishing line continues to flow while moving to the next job's coating.
Integrating this solution with Cefla's patented C-Tracker software gave Canyon Creek full autonomy over their production, tracking where parts were in the finishing line and optimizing their horseshoe line.
Results
Thanks to the new Cefla Finishing line, Canyon Creek has depleted the bottleneck in production and focused their efforts on automation. A standard color change usually takes two minutes, and implementing this new investment has allowed them to save 10 hours a week in color changes. Canyon Creek's two new Easys equipped with the FCS will enable them to save time switching their 30+ colors during each shift, in addition to material savings. With this new system, Canyon Creek can offer even more finishes and options for their customers due to its ease of operations.
After curating this solution for Canyon Creek, we have realized this need with other customers and have included this solution into our product range. Cefla's FCS is the only one in the market, making this innovation ready to change the industry.
